It is the last day for my Summer Shop in the gallery at 84 Wallace St Braidwood for 2020. All the dolls will now go back into my fYREWORKSHOPS studio.
Some of this Summer's newly dressed vintage Patsy Dolls are already online at www.etsy.com/au/shop/VintagePatsyDolls
What an interesting Summer it has been here in Braidwood, NSW. 2020 will be remembered as the Summer of feroscious bush fires, crazy storms with flash-floods and hail the size of golf balls, followed by huge dust storms rolling across the driest landscape in decades and dumping first dust and then rain falling as mud from black skies overhead. So it has been a challenging time for all our local shops with road closures, farm evacuations and call outs for the volunteer fire fighters.
And in between I have been sewing and knitting up a storm of my own. Several smaller Patsy dolls from my vinatge collection have new clothes, including a wonderful 1930s "Anne Shirley" look-alike who is wearing an original EffanBee 1920s Patsy Joan outfit that has been lovingly mended and carefully fitted to the little composition doll with her signature fair pigtails. She is a rare piece of social history giving us a glimpse of how the "make-and-mend" tradition of the Great Depression included a much loved special doll.
She is listed in my Etsy shop for $85 AUD including shipping.
